The Charlevoix County History Preservation Society (CCHPS) at Raven Hill Announces a New Exhibit: 90 Years ~ Todd Pioneer Family History! from September 27\, 2015 to October 26\, 2015. \;The exhibit will remain on display at the Center during the new extended hours (Mon-Fri 10 am-4 pm\, Sat 12-4pm\, Sun 2-4pm) until October 26\, 2015. Regular admission prices will apply.
\n\nDuring the 1860&rsquo\;s\, the Todd Family settled on the property that is now Raven Hill Discovery Center. In the 1930&rsquo\;s\, Todd family member\, Mary Brintnall Todd (1864-1954)\, wrote an autobiography about growing up in this rural area. Her book\, 90 Years\, chronicles the daily life of this local pioneer family.
\n\nThe Todd Exhibit\, with artifacts\, book and historical information\, makes connections between science\, history and art for visitors all ages &ndash\; the mission of Raven Hill Discovery Center. The Todd homestead site has provided 24 years of archeological research for scientists\, students and visitors to Raven Hill. During Raven Hill&rsquo\;s recent Nontraditional Science &\; Math Career Expos\, Kerri Finlayson\, Professor of Archeology and Sociology at North Central Michigan College\, has led teams of middle school girls in onsite digs. The students have unearthed over 250 items\, including a doll&rsquo\;s pewter teacup\, glass and china from the era and even parts of an old leather shoe. Barbara Hernden\, professional genealogist\, has provided family genealogical and historic information. Mary Todd&rsquo\;s autobiography\, 90 Years\, published for the first time\, will be available for purchase.
