  • About

The Top of Michigan Trails Council (TOMTC) has been at the task of trail building since 1995, when the organization was formed to coordinate the efforts of many individuals and groups who had a vision for trails that would provide access to our region’s natural areas. The Little Traverse Wheelway, a 23-mile trail that follows the shore of Little Traverse Bay from Charlevoix to Harbor Springs, was the result of that cooperation. Since then our trail network has grown to over 300 miles in Northern Michigan, and many new trails are in the works.

Our mission is three-fold: to ADVOCATE for the development of new trails (our latest project is a trail from Charlevoix to Traverse City); to MAINTAIN existing trails; and to PROMOTE the year-round use of trails for the health of users and the for the health of our planet. We're AMPing up our trails!
