In 1954\, Paul Taylor established the Paul Taylor Dance Company\, serving as both a virtuoso performer and a trailblazing choreographer. In 1974 Taylor turned exclusively to choreography. Setting gorgeous movement to music since the mid-twentieth century\, the Paul Taylor Dance Company embodies this legend of a choreographer's singular vision of contemporary dance. Beginning with its first television appearance in 1978\, the Company has since appeared in ten different PBS programs and has become a standard of excellence in the presentation of modern dance in New York City.
