Job Description
The City of Charlevoix is seeking a Seasonal Camp Counselor/Assistant Camp Director for the 2023 summer season at Mt. McSauba Day Camp located on beautiful Lake Michigan lakefront property! As the Camp Counselor, the selected candidate will supervise groups of children during their participation in day camp activities. In the absence of the Camp Director, the selected candidate will oversee all aspects of Mt. McSauba Summer Day Camp including creating, coordinating, and overseeing weekly summer camp activities such as swimming, field sports, environmental education, and arts and crafts.
This position can be considered as an internship or educational co-op, if applicable. The work schedule will be 35 to 40 hours per week. The camp runs from mid-June through mid-August. Candidates must be 21 years of age or older. The selected candidate must be able to swim, pass a fingerprint background check, and have the ability to obtain a Red Cross Certification or equivalent to Community First Aid and Safety Course by the camp start date. Counselors with teaching experience or lifeguard certification will be paid a higher rate.
