Job Description

Summary

Manages the team of buyer/planners to meet needs of organizational objectives.  Plans and establishes production schedules to meet customer needs and in accordance with sales forecasts, plant and employee capacity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reviews blueprints/solid model, bill of material, and production specifications to accurately determine needed materials
Keep material records up to date, including all codes such as lead times, days of supply, price, minimum, maximum and multiple quantities, safety stock, shrinkage and order policy codes

Work with internal and external suppliers by issuing manufacturing orders and purchase orders.  Purchases materials, supplies and services at the most favorable terms for the organization.  Manage release, expedites and cancels through MRP/VP. Monitor and manage capacities.

Tracks purchases, monitors vendor quality and maintains a current database of vendor information.
Maintains proper level of inventory
In direct contact with both MRP/VP and the internal and external suppliers.
Material planning for the items under your control, communicate the resultant schedules to their assigned suppliers, follow-up, resolve problems and advise CSM team when purchased or manufactured items will not arrive on time to support the schedule.
Accomplishes department objectives by managing staff; planning and evaluating department activities.

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Develops personal growth opportunities.
Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Coaches, counsels, and disciplines employees.
Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
Establishes strategic goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information.
Defines objectives, identifies and evaluates trends and options, chooses a course of action, and evaluates outcomes.
Maintains quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards, analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems, and recommending system improvements.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Approve time cards, manage time off requests for Planner/Buyer team members, monitor attendance for all direct reports.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor degree or its equivalent. 4-7 years of related work experience.

Other Qualifications

Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff

Intermediate computer skills to work within programs such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Mail, HR/Scheduling software, Infor XA
