Basic Job Description
- The Marina Operations Assistant Manager performs many key functions within our marina and rental operations. This position will play an important role in the logistics of boats in and out of storage and service, seasonal marina setup and takedown, and rentals throughout the busy peak summer season. Other opportunities and duties will depend on one’s skillsets but could involve sales, service, advertising/social media content creation, and more. This position requires someone that enjoys the marine and boating environment, has a positive attitude and great work ethic, and gets along well with others. It is a fun, fast-paced environment!
Core Responsibilities
- Daily Operations:
- Supports the owner and key staff in daily rental and marina operations including gas dock, retail store, facility management including marina dock, opening/closing, transporting boats by land or water, operating a tractor and forklift, detailing/cleaning boats and equipment. This position will play a large part in our rental operations including boat, jet-ski, water trampoline and paddlesports rentals.
- Customer Relations:
- Assisting marina and rental customers as needed, providing high quality customer service with attention to detail, resolving customer requests/issues, prioritizing and scheduling as needed.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Assist with recordkeeping, inventory tracking, pickup/delivery scheduling, placing orders and more.
- Staff Leadership:
- Ability to supervise and train summer season staff, and be a team player.
Requirements

- Candidate Qualities:
- High attention to detail and follow through, self-motivated and a self-starter, positive attitude, good communication skills and organization, ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment, great customer service skills, basic computer skills and enjoys being and working outside. This is an active and at times physically demanding job with lots of variety.
- Boating experience and knowledge is a huge plus
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift 50-75lbs
- Comfortable in and around water, competent swimmer

This is an active and at times physically demanding job with lots of variety.
- Other duties/skill sets that are very desirable (not inclusive).
- Sales – retail sales of boat, dock, watersports/marine goods, etc
- Service – light mechanical duties
- Graphic Design – artwork, apparel, print/advertising materials
- Social Media – video, photography, ads
- Handyperson – several various marina building related projects
General Season/Schedule Overview
- Our season is approximately April through November but may extend and vary based on weather and needs.
- April through mid-June we are busy preparing our storage customer boats for the summer, as well as setting up for the rental/boating season.
- Mid to late June through late August the rental season is extremely busy.
- Early September through October and into November, the rental season slows down and we ramp up for the boat storage/service and marina “pack-up” season.
- From approximately Memorial Weekend through Labor Day weekend we are open 7 days a week 9am-6:30. Candidate should expect to work 5 days a week, sometimes 6, during this “peak” time. Outside of these dates, we operate mostly on a Monday through Friday 9am-5pm schedule. Throughout the winter there may be some flexible/as needed part-time hours and may change as our business grows.
Compensation
- Competitive hourly position plus overtime, bonuses, one week paid vacation/sick time, and tips. We offer a 3% company match SIMPLE IRA after year one. Starting hourly rate based on experience, ability, and work ethic.
