Art from the Attic: Act II

The Charlevoix Circle of Arts will present its second annual, Art from the Attic: II, silent auction/buy it now fundraiser on August 12th &13th. Up for auction will be a variety of items ranging from fine art, vintage goods, furniture, jewelry, decorative accessories and more. Donations are now being accepted for interesting; previously loved items that you feel would be welcome in a new home. All items are to be considered to be a donation and not placed in the auction as a consignment item. Donations are tax deductable. New this year is the location of the event. “We have been offer the use of the space at 405 Bridge Street as a location to set up shop,” explains Gail DeMeyere, Executive Director of the Circle of Arts. “This seems to be the perfect location to be able to introduce the auction to a larger audience, especially as it will coincide with the Charlevoix Waterfront Art Fair.” Some of the notable items that have come in thus far are: a painting by Grace Hall Hemingway (the mother of Ernest Hemingway), a table crafted by Norman Brumm, a full scale merry-go-round horse and a brass dog bed fir for a King or Queen pooch, complete with a custom leopard spotted cushion. The Circle has been adding additional programming and is looking forward to the fall when they will have a new dance floor in place in the lower level of the 109 Clinton Street location. The will then be offering dance for all levels as well as yoga classes. A portion of the proceeds of the auction will help offset the installation. This project is also funded in part by the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.
