Name:
Community Tree Lighting & Holiday Parade
Date:
November 29, 2013
Time:
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM EST

Event Description:
Join your friends and family at the Holiday Parade & Tree Lighting Celebration on Friday, November 29th from 3:00 to 6:00pm in downtown Charlevoix!
There will be ornament making at Santa’s Workshop (Charlevoix Circle of Arts Center, 109 Clinton Street) from 3:00 to 5:30pm. Children of all ages are invited to stop in and make a beautiful hand-made ornament to hang on the Community Christmas Tree in East Park. Santa’s Workshop is brought to you by the Charlevoix Circle of Arts and Northwestern Bank.
The Charlevoix Circle of Arts will also host the North Pole where children can have their picture taken with Santa compliments of Picture This. Santa and his jolly elves will be at the North Pole to help you capture that special moment from 3:30 to 5:30pm. Don’t be late, because Santa must leave to join the parade at 5:30 sharp!
Beginning at 4:00pm, you can gather around the Community Christmas Tree in East Park and warm up with a cup of hot cocoa and cookies compliments of Stafford’s Weathervane Restaurant and Subway. The Petunia Truck will be on hand to provide holiday music and spread yuletide cheer.
The 3rd Annual Holiday Parade will start at 5:30pm. The parade will take place on Bridge Street between Hurlbut and Clinton downtown. Enjoy music, lighted floats and even a visit from the Grinch. The final parade entry will be Santa and his helpers who will stop in East Park to light the Community Christmas Tree at 6:00pm sharp.
Children are welcome to bundle up, bring their favorite furry friend, and walk in the Teddy Bear Parade segment of the event. There will also be a Canine Costume Parade for well behaved pooches to flaunt their festive holiday apparel. There is no charge to participate, so call the Chamber for details and to sign up today.
New this year, the Charlevoix Ministerial Association invites you to a special story-time event, Journey To Bethlehem, in the performance pavilion in East Park immediately following the tree lighting at 6:00pm. In case of inclement weather, story-time will be moved indoors to the United Methodist Church on Clinton Street.
Contact the Charlevoix Area Chamber of Commerce for additional information or to request a parade entry form. Entry forms are also available online at www.charlevoix.org.
