Gallery Talk: Andrea Gerring

October 12: Andrea Gerring Charles Culver Family Collection Curator Andrea Gerring, adjunct Art History instructor at North Central Michigan College in Petoskey, Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, and Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids. Master of Art History with a focus on the art of India, China and Japan from Wayne State University. As the curator for the Charles Culver Family Collection, I have had the very special opportunity to learn about Culver's work; his special watercolor technique, his philosophy on art and teaching and his incredible wit and writing ability. Though he died much too young in 1967, his work has lived on to tell a story; a very interesting story, which I will be sharing with you on Oct. 12 at the Charlevoix Circle of the Arts. Join me for an examination of this work and a discussion on his very opinionated points of view on art. Let's see if we agree or disagree with his ideas from fifty years ago.
