It is the pleasure of the Charlevoix Historical Society to present a collection of paintings by local artists, acquired over many years, in the hopes of fostering a new appreciation for our community and its people. These paintings offer a new perspective of our town and its history through the eyes of local artists; many showcase historical structure and landscapes, the lakes, Round Lake harbor, and the beautiful boats that moor there. The pieces span from the 1880s to the 1990s, and feature painting and pen-and-ink drawings by Rosa Nettleton, watercolors by Irene Harsha Young, and oils by more recent artists like PD Campbell and Lyle Miles. Many of these artworks have been carefully restored thanks to the generous donations of community members to the Adopt-a-Painting Program.
