Sent to European Russia at in 1918 at the end of WWI, the 339th Infantry, made up of draft men mainly from Michigan and Wisconsin, became a part of efforts by the Allies and others to oppose the Bolshevik revolutionaries who had taken power in Russia. They became known as the Polar Bears. Mike Grobbel, President of the Polar Bear Memorial Association, will tell their story as well as give insights to the local men who served in this regiment.
