Free Volunteer Reader Training

Would you like to help promote children's literacy in your community? As part of the Literacy Initiative, Char-Em United Way has recruited a group of dedicated volunteers, called the Literacy Corps, to read to, tutor, and mentor students in schools, libraries, day cares, and other youth-serving agencies. We work with these agencies to find times that work for the volunteers, allowing them to set their own schedules based on their availability. People who are already volunteering or working with youth and those who wish to be matched with a volunteer opportunity are encouraged to come to the training.
