Job Description
The Charlevoix Area Community Pool is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach to support its Stingrays Swim Team, a program that provides a positive, inclusive, and competitive swimming environment for athletes ages 5–18.

The Stingrays Swim Team emphasizes skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth in and out of the water, and the role of an Assistant Swim Coach is to support the Head Swim Coach in delivering high-quality practices and fostering a love of swimming among youth athletes of varying abilities. The ideal candidate will bring energy, patience, and a commitment to helping swimmers develop skills and confidence.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

Assist in planning and conducting practices for beginner to advanced swimmers
Provide instruction in stroke technique, starts, turns, and racing strategies appropriate for each age and skill group
Support swimmers' goals and progress, offering encouragement and constructive feedback
Help supervise swimmers to ensure a safe and positive practice environment
Assist with swim meet preparation and attend swim meets as needed (includes weekends)
Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and Head Swim Coach
Model and promote good sportsmanship and team spirit

Qualifications for this position are as follows:

Prior competitive swimming experience and/or previous coaching experience
Knowledge of stroke mechanics, training techniques, and U.S. competitive swimming rules
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Current CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certification (or willingness to obtain during employment)

The Assistant Swim Coach position is part-time, with a schedule including weekday practices and weekend swim meets. Compensation is commensurate with experience and certifications.
