The Beaver Island Cultural Arts Association (BICAA) is dedicated to promoting and encouraging participation in the cultural arts on Beaver Island.
BICAA's signature event is the Baroque on Beaver Festival of Classical Music, which is held the last weekend in July through the first weekend in August. In 2020 BICAA will celebrate twenty consecutive years of bringing classical music to Beaver Island on lake Michigan.
BICAA is a 501C3 organization and is run by a Board composed of nine members and chaired by Tammy McDonough of Beaver Island.
Now in it's 20th season, the Baroque on Beaver Festival gave its inaugural concert in 2001 and has continued to uphold the vision of its founding members to bring classical music to Beaver Island for well over a decade, with the 2020 festival held on-line.
Throughout its history, the Baroque on Beaver Festival Chorus has established itself as an audience favorite. Made up of members from on and off island, who donate their time and talent, the Festival Chorus plays a major role in Festival programming. Also, singing at festival events is a smaller cluster of singers known as the Chamber Chorale and traditionally features some of the most talented young vocalists from around Michigan.
The Festival is also home to several distinguished chamber music ensembles. These include the Beaver Island Brass Quintet, the Beaver String Quartet and Emerald Isle Winds Quintet. These ensembles are made up of principal players from the orchestra.
